July Script-Time: How are you using your Gift

July is here and finally we have some sun, I’m feeling ever so thankful and grateful as I sit lapping up the natural vitamin D whilst writing this month’s Script-Time.

Let’s pray that the good weather last, there is nothing like some sunshine, to keep us motivated and feeling good, whilst we are doing good. Amen!

Right let’s get to it…

As we roll into the 2nd half of the year, let’s look at what we have been doing in terms of serving others, how we have been using the gifts that God has given us?

Whether that be your spiritual gift or your specific talent/skill, that you are particularly gifted in.

I know some of you read the word ‘serve’ and automatically think of slaves; this is not what we are talking about here. As Followers of Christ we have been called to serve God. Therefore, we serve God by happily helping and serving others. Most of the time, this is within a Church or a particular ministry.

Life Essence is one way I serve others, by using the various gifts that God has given me and others within the LE team. So you can get creative with your serving and your calling in life.

Before you start reading you may want to find a quite space, and grab a notebook. As you read this scripture, really think about what your reading, note down any thoughts or feelings that come to your mind.
Once you have done this then read the passage again and note down anything else that you might hear or see.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

1 Peter 4:10 NIV

Now you will have all got different revelation that will be personal to you. Now reflect and meditate on what you have written, spend time asking God is there anything that you need to do with what you have heard or written.
There may be an instruction or a confirmation, this is personal between you and God.

Whilst reflecting on this, I was reminded that we are all individuals, and God knows us all. He knows each of our various gifts, because He is the bearer of these gifts.

Many of us will have the same gift, however, it is how we implement them serving together to edify and build God’s Kingdom and His people.

In our various ways, that are unique and individual to us for example; you may be gifted in preaching, just like many others. However, how you implement this gift will be very different to someone else. This is a good thing!

You may be gifted in the spiritual or the natural for example: wisdom, interpretation of dreams, presenting, organising, outreach, building, IT or singing. Whatever, your gift is, it is not only to benefit yourself but they are there to also serve others too.

We are called to serve one another in love and God is far more interested in why you serve others than in how well you serve them. He is always looking at your heart, serving willingly and eagerly out of love for Jesus and gratitude for all He’s done for you.

Now go back and meditate on this scripture and ask yourself: Are you walking in your gifting? Are you serving others? Or if you are not sure what you gift is or how God would like you to use it. Ask Him to reveal this to you. Remember you have to be still and present to hear from God. Don’t forget to write down what you are hearing and seeing.

Please feel free to pray your own prayer as you feel lead to do so.

Thank you Jesus, heavenly father I thank you for your wonderful grace and mercy. Thank you for your forgiveness and for still using me even though I fall short everyday.

Lord I you have chosen me and you know me by my name, . You are a loving God and father and I want to do what is right and what you have called me to do here on earth.

Please highlight any area of my life that I need to change or where I need to offer my help in anyway. Lord, I pray that you put it in my heart, your desires so that my desires becomes inline with yours.

Let me serve from a willing heart, take away any pain and hurt or attitude that may prevent me serving with an open heart.

In Jesus name. Amen!
